The SwedenLab is a virtual laboratory capable of generating a time-series of sub-national MRIO tables for the period 2008–2016. SwedenLab is able to capture the unique characteristics of Sweden’s counties, in particular, focussing on detailed supply-chain distribution in up to 821 sectors and 291 regions.
Currently, the MRIO database is applied to reveal the effects of international trades on regional emissions, the driver for national emissions, and the changes in inter-regional emission flows between 21 Swedish’s counties from 2008-2016. The study has been conducted in collaboration with Statistics Sweden (Statistiska Centralbyrån/SCB). SCB is planning a knowledge transfer ensuring their own researchers are able to run and update the Lab, and several climate projects in region Skåne and Västra Götalandsregionen utilising the Swedish MRIO database.
